As we have reported Armenia is holding a tender for a third GSM licence at some time during this year and according to local newspaper Panorama the tender details are still being confirmed, but will include spectrum in both the GSM900 and GSM1800 bands.

Alexander Isaev, the General Director at Rostelecom, told Interfax that his company is targeting 2008 revenue of about RUB 38 billion according to IFRS accounting standards.

Not content with simply predicting mobile subscriber numbers, the Belarusian Government has announced its forecasts of the number of broadband Internet users.
Vodafone RO have bought Proton Technologies, a large mobile phone retailer in the country with 73 stores, most of which are in Moldavia. Previously Proton Technologies had been a major retailer for Orange, Vodafone’s largest competition, but Proton will stop selling Orange services within the next few weeks.
