MTS making a SMART acquisition?

Russia’s largest cellco, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), has offered USD 1 billion for 97 percent of regional operator SMARTS, Vedomosti newspaper reported on Thursday, quoting sources.

O2 CR appoint new CFO

Telefonica O2 Czech Republic will appointed Jesus Perez de Uriguen as Chief Financial Officer, as of 1 May. He will replace Ramon Ros, who is leaving the company to take the post of CFO at O2 UK in May, the company said. Jesus Perez de Uriguen is currently CFO of Telefonica Centroamerica.

Sibirtelecom enabling real-time online payment

On 2 April Sibirtelecom and the Siberian bank Sberbank of Russia started the joint project to enable real-time online reception of payments. The project starts in Novosibirsk, Tomsk and Kemerovo areas, but will expand to all Siberian federal district.

Cosmote have left the stock exchange

 As of 1 April the Greek cellco Cosmote has ceased trading on the Athens Stock Exchange after parent telco OTE approved its request for ‘squeeze-out-rights’ to purchase all remaining stock from minor shareholders. Under a board agreement OTE is obliged to acquire any remaining shares of Cosmote which have not been purchased through trading.

Euroset intends bond issues

Euroset have announced intentions to issue five-year bonds for RUB 5 billion, this finance will be used to pay debt and provide further development, however, according to specialists, Euroset is unlikely to successfully place the whole emission.
