MegaFon dispute settled

Representatives of IPOC International Growth Fund and Leonid Rozhetskin have issued a statement relating to their long-running legal battle over the ownership of a stake in Russia’s number three cellular operator, MegaFon.

MTS report 1Q profits

Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), has reported 1Q net profits of USD 610 million, up from USD 449 million one year earlier. The results beat an average forecast of USD 532.1 million from a Dow Jones poll of analysts.

Fitch bring Telenor up to stable rating

Fitch Ratings changed Norway-based telecommunications provider Telenor’s outlook from negative to stable, citing a perceived reduction in risk related to Telenor’s control of certain international assets, particularly DiGi in Malaysia and DTAC in Thailand.

Sistema looking at Telekom Austria’s mobile wing

Telekom Austria is reportedly in talks with Russia’s Sistema for them to acquire a stake in the Austrian company’s mobile operation, according to newspaper Wirtschaftsblatt. It also named Vodafone and Telefonica as possible partners, although the Russian company was more likely. Sistema, however, dismissed the report, a spokesperson said:

Deutsche Telekom (DT) reportedly plans to hold talks with the Macedonian Competition Committee over concerns the German group now holds an unfair dominant position in the market following its acquisition of shares in Greek operator OTE.

Netia show 22 percent growth

Polish operator Netia reports a 1Q revenue growth from continuing activities of 22 percent versus 1Q 2007. Total revenues from continuing activities rose to PLN 228.7 million and to PLN 237.5 million including the wholesale activities sold to Mediatel during 1Q 2008.

Zapp has 15 wide UMTS network ready

Sibirtelecom to triple revenue from growing services

O2 TV launch new Multi service

The Czech incumbent telco Telefónica O2 has added a new offer to its IPTV platform O2 TV. Known as Multi, it allows viewers to watch different O2 TV channels on two TV sets in the same household at the same time for an additional payment of CZK 50 (EUR 2) a month.
