Bulgaria’s telecoms watchdog said on 21 May that it has received 11 letters of interest for a fourth mobile licence, according to Dnevnik daily.

However, the number of bids could increase since prospective investors were required to mail their letters by the end of May 20, the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) said.

Although the CRC would not officially disclose the names of the bidders, four companies have been reported to be interested the auction, Max Telecom, Trans Telecom , Carrier BG and Turkcell. The country’s three existing mobile operators, M-Tel, Globul and Vivatel, have said they had no intentions to bid for the 1800 MHz licence.
