Posted on Friday 28 March 2008

As we have reported Armenia is holding a tender for a third GSM licence at some time during this year and according to local newspaper Panorama the tender details are still being confirmed, but will include spectrum in both the GSM900 and GSM1800 bands.

They also cite rumours results will indeed be announced in August and Russia’s MegaFon is likely to win, giving quite an implication that the it will not be an open competition.

Armenia’s current two mobile networks are Armentel and VivaCell, majority owned by VimpelCom and MTS respectively.
