Uzbek State Committee for Demonopolisation, Supporting Competition and Entrepreneurship (antimonopoly committee) fined two mobile operators last week, the Uzbek-Scandinavian Coscom joint venture was fined for about USD 1,108 for violating the law on advertising, and the Uzbek-US Rubicon Wireless Communications, which offers CDMA services under the Perfectum Mobile brand, for USD 1,582.

The committee, which also monitors advertising laws, accused Coscom and Perfectum Mobile of exaggerating in their tariffs in adverts. It said that the criteria for using the words champion (Coscom) and leader (Perfectum Mobile) in their adverts of tariff plans were not clear.
