Latvia: Mobile Telecoms Market Overview

Overview

The Latvian market consists of three operators: Tele2, LMT and Bite. Tele2 and TeliaSonera control 95 percent of the market and Bite just 5 percent.

Tele2

Tele2 was established in 1993 and provides international telecommunications to companies in Europe. It is active in mobile communications, fixed telecommunications and data transmission, as well as Internet and cable television services.

LMT

LMT were the first operator to enter the Latvian mobile market, it is owned by TeliaSonera, Lattelecom (Latvia's incumbent telco) as well as other minor investors.
