The telecoms market regulator of Slovakia has said Orange has bid SKK 40 million (USD 1.93 million) for a 20-year operating licence of the 870MHz frequency.
Orange, already the largest mobile services provider in Slovakia with 3.2 million connected units, beat two other bidders in the tender, Telefonica O2 Slovakia and Irish Logic System Ltd.
The office had set price as the sole criterion for choosing the holder of the license, designed mainly for high-speed Internet services.
Slovakia’s mobile communication market is currently operated by Orange Slovakia, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile Slovakia and Telefonica O2 Slovakia, a unit of Telefonica O2 Czech Republic.
