The following charts the growth in subscribership in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia over the past 2 years.
Armenia’s subscribers figures 3Q06-2Q08:
VivaCell and ArmenTel are owned by the two largest cellcos in Russia, MTS and VimpelCom respectively, although two years ago they had around the same number of subscribers, since then VivaCell has grown a great deal more and now has nearly three times the number of subscribers as ArmenTel and around 70 percent market share.
Azerbaijan’s subscribers figures 3Q06-2Q08:
Azerbaijan has three GSM networks; Azercell, Bakcell and Nar Mobile; and one CDMA, CATEL. It’s a fast growing market, having grown 49.25 percent over the last year.
Georgia’s subscribers figures 3Q06-2Q08:
With growth of nearly 400,000 subscribers this quarter, Magticom has overtaken Geocell to become Georgia’s largest cellco by subscribers.
