Slovenian cellco Mobitel has announced that its whole UMTS network has been upgraded to HSPA technology, covering 73 percent of the population.
The 3.5G platform, based on High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and its upstream counterpart HSUPA, enables data downloading/uploading at maximum speeds of 7.2Mbps/1.4 Mbps. Mobitel, a wholly owned subsidiary of fixed line incumbent Telekom Slovenije, says it intends to expand its W-CDMA/HSPA network further.
