VimpelCom has become the first cellco in Russia to launch BlackBerry services. The mobile operator announced its first contract for the service with the Russian unit of British American Tobacco, according to Reuters.
Vimpelcom are offering the BlackBerry 8700g handset from Research In Motion. Vimpelcom is in talks with 40 more potential corporate clients, company spokeswoman Yekaterina Osadchaya said. Rival Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), is about to start offering the service to 30 corporate clients working in Russia, its spokeswoman Yelena Kokhanovskaya said.
